Why Community Involvement

“It’s not the same watching a disaster on television it doesn’t move you to do anything, but when you’re on ground zero, you see, touch, smell and feel poverty, and you witness destruction and see the desperation and hopelessness in peoples eyes, it really made me question what was really important, These experiences help bring things into perspective.”

Bobby Tse, Managing Director, after a service trip to Sichuan six months after the 2008 earthquake

Sowers Exchange engages in community involvement due to the personal experience of its team. We are inspired by front-line workers who are dedicated change makers and give of themselves in order to empower the underprivileged.  We believe that a practical and hands-on approach of connecting donors to recipients brings about genuine and lasting impact in the community. The private sector has a unique opportunity to operate their business in a sustainable manner while giving into and building the local communities.

There should be a change in the mindset of how people give – what they give to and how they give. Service trips provide donors a clear understanding of the state of impoverished communities and what is actually needed on the ground.  A personal experience allows for an opportunity to create lasting change for everyone involved.
